Little piece of contact stuck in eye?

Earlier today a contact lens was stuck in my eye. I managed to take it out, but I realized it was broken into pieces. I took out 2 pieces out from my eye, and I still feels as if there is still a very small piece of lens still in my eye. I tried putting in another contact lens to absorb it, and when I put on the contact lens I felt as if there wasn't another piece there. I can only feel it when I blink.

Sorry, sir, but I'm going to have to amputate your eye.

Oh. I think you need to see someone about that. I dont think theres a piece on the eye. I think its in the eye.

It might not be a piece of contact lens, but it might be that you scratched your cornea and that is causing the sensation of something being in your eye. You really should go to your eye doctor as soon as possible. He or she can remove whatever might be stuck and give you medication to prevent infection.

I'm a contact wearer myself,
I'm scared for you.

Find it!

Did you try flushing with water or solution? Chances are you just scratched your eye while trying to get it out. Usually when this happens to me it feels better by morning. It's really strange that it broke. Did you leave it in too long?

Wash your hands with antibacterial soap for at least 15 seconds, then try and see if you can get it out. That's how i usually deal with eye gunk or lashes that get on my eyes. Just make sure your hands are clean, find a good mirror and a light and move your eye around until you can see it. OR you could always try flushing your eye out too with some water or eye wash, see if that works. Things can't, (to my knowledge) get stuck behind your eye or anything, eventually they float around to the corners of your eyes.

There very well may be a piece left in your eye, and it can stay there for weeks, I used to have that problem every so often. Sometimes the piece would come out that night and once it stayed in for about a week and finally feel out as this dried piece of plastic. Didn't do any damage, but was sort of uncomfortable for awhile. Or, it could have fallen out and just left behind a sort of strange feeling, and you are feeling the sort of "echo" of the piece of plastic. The last time I went to my eye doctor and mentioned this his comment was that I shouldn't have walked around feeling uncomfortable. It is better to come right in and let him have a look, it only takes a minute of his time, and you go away feeling better. So, I suggest, get to the eye doctor right away and just get an answer.

From what you are describing it appears like you still have a small piece of the old contact lens. My recommendation is to remove the new lens (s) and get some assistance from a family member to help you locate and remove the remaining small piece of the old lens. This would help you prevent irritaition from the old lens that may be rubbing up against a surface in your eye. The nervous supply in your eye is so sensitive that you will know when the last piece of the old lense is removed.
